Diligence

Background: It’s 1 am, I just woke up 30 minutes ago to complete the tasks I started several hours ago. As I sit in my living room typing a blog, the buzzer on the dryer goes off and I think about how I’d love to stop what I’m doing and go back to sleep.

We’ve all had those days when we just wanna quit. We become so overwhelmed that moving forward seems like a waste of time. I’ve had weeks where I literally had to tell myself not to quit. Men are built we more muscles that increase their physical strength, women are built with more neurons to accommodate all of the emotional and logistical matters of life. No matter how gifted we are in the neuron area, all of us hit a point of capacity where quitting becomes an option.

Of course the P31 records no examples of quitting but it does emphasize the she is not idle, strength and honor are her clothing and that she rejoices in time to come. When you’ve hit the end of your patience or endurance for a certain person or thing, you want so badly to give up and move on with something that is actually moving. But the strength of the P31 is two-fold: she not only strengthens her arms, she clothes herself with strength. To me this means she covers herself with not physical strength, but the mental endurance necessary to plan out a day that is packed with decision making and tasks to keep the family moving. The strength and honor that the P31 donns are by donned by choice, and they are essential in handling the mental and emotional weight anyday can bring us.

We already established that quitting isn’t an option but if we think it, it is possible. Our choice must be to continue going forward, to be patient in our situations and diligent in maintaining the well being of our families. Quitting in an area leads to idleness and idleness can come with a price tag that we cannot afford. Are breaks necessary? Of course, our minds and bodies need a breather in order to recharge and minimize mistakes. We just have to make sure we don’t park there.

Keeping our eyes on the big picture or goal requires faith and in order for it not to fail, we must feed our faith by communing with God and His word. This is the only way we can achieve the endurance necessary to balance the many things that we’ve been blessed to oversee. Take a break if necessary, but do not quit. Our diligence impacts everything and everyone that we touch.
